The Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) on Saturday announced the cancellation of board exams for classes 10 and 12 in the UAE amid rising safety concerns during the war in West Asia.

“The decision has been taken taking into consideration the security situation in the region and the safety and well-being of candidates, examination staff and all other stakeholders involved in the conduct of the examinations,” CISCE said in a letter addressed to the heads of its affiliated schools in the UAE.

The announcement comes after the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) postponed grades 10 and 12 exams in Bahrain, Iran, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the UAE earlier this month. The letter states that the earlier decision was reviewed by CISCE in consultation with the CEO of the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), the Educational Quality Assurance and Regulatory Oversight Authority in Dubai, and the Consul General of India in Dubai.

“After reviewing the situation, CISCE has decided to cancel the ICSE (Class It also clarifies that the results of the canceled exams will be prepared using an alternative evaluation mechanism, which candidates will be notified of in the future.
