'This is very worrying': Indian restaurateur Harman Singh Kapoor arrested days after announcing UK restaurant closure

Indian-origin restaurateur Harman Singh Kapoor was arrested days after he announced he would close his 16-year-old restaurant Rangrez in the UK due to threats from Pakistanis and lack of support from police. In response to one of the tweets, Kapoor confirmed his arrest. Without giving the exact reason behind his arrest, Kapoor said: “All I did was protect my family, and yet I was the one who was arrested. Instead of protecting us, the police targeted my religion – my Sikh faith and my beliefs. This is very disturbing.”Earlier, Kapoor revealed that Muslims targeted his restaurant because he chose from day one not to sell halal meat, and for this reason, Pakistanis gave him bad reviews.

Kapoor said that he does not care about the failure of his business, because he chose to close his restaurant and will now continue the business full time.In a series of tweets, Kapoor described Muslims as consanguineous and said: “Proudly, we do not sell halal. We do not cater to consanguineous bloodlines.”“Proudly, I do not sell halal, which is why many people from the halal breeding community are dissatisfied and post fake reviews. Rangrez Restaurant will never provide halal breeding services at the expense of tortured animals.

“Domestic breeds are not my customers,” he wrote in another post calling for a ban on halal in the UK.Who is Harman Singh Kapoor? Harman Singh Kapoor is a Sikh activist known for speaking out against Khalistani extremism. In 2023, he claimed his car was shot at and vandalized after he criticized the Khalistan movement. In recent months, Kapoor and his wife have also become increasingly vocal against Muslims. Shortly before announcing the closure of their restaurant, the couple shared a video warning parents of alleged cases of “love jihad” in the UK and Australia.

Kapoor claimed that many of the girls were “brainwashed by Pakistani and Bangladeshi boys” and lost contact with their families, adding that he was looking into many such cases. Kapoor also faced criticism online. Some social media users claimed he was planning to enter politics alongside far-right activist Tommy Robinson. Others accused him of adopting anti-immigrant rhetoric despite being an immigrant, claiming that he had sought asylum in the UK as an Afghan Sikh refugee even though he was originally from India.
