Wanted fugitive killed by Dallas police reportedly worked as security guard for Jasmine Crockett: Report

The man shot and killed by Dallas police earlier this week was a familiar figure in North Texas law enforcement and part of U.S. Rep. Jasmine Crockett’s security detail, CBS News Texas reported, citing sources. The man, known publicly as Mike King, used aliases while running a company that hired officers for off-duty jobs, multiple law enforcement sources told CBS News Texas.King was killed Wednesday night after a confrontation with Dallas police officers. He fled into a hospital parking garage, barricaded himself inside a car, then was forced out with tear gas before pulling a gun on officers, police said.He was wanted for impersonating a law enforcement officer and claiming to be an officer while operating Off Duty Police Services, an online platform that connects North Texas officers with off-duty work, sources said.

The authorities did not reveal his real name.Photos obtained by CBS News showed Texas King standing close to Crockett at events and on the campaign trail during her recent run for a U.S. Senate seat. He supervised teams of security officers at several hotels in downtown Dallas and at his church, the sources said.Law enforcement sources also said King drove a replica of an undercover police car and used license plates stolen from cars outside a military recruiting office. His background, which sources said included a criminal history, raised questions about how he managed additional jobs for police officers and secured a high-level security role for a member of Congress.Documents obtained by CBS News Texas showed that a person named Mike King received payments for “security services” from Crockett last year.
