Season 4 of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives It’s finally here, and the breakup is revealed – Michaela Matthews And her husband, Jess Terrythey decide to go their separate ways. Although Michaela explained the multiple reasons behind their breakup, fans knew it was primarily about their intimacy struggles.
“We agreed to break up,” she said during a confessional in Season 4, Episode 9. Last season, Michaela, 25, and Jess, 30, went to couples therapy in hopes of repairing their relationship, but they were already starting to grow apart.

During a confessional from Season 4, Episode 9, Michaela explained that her chronic illness, during the postpartum period, “contract [her] Step back from saying “yes” to too many opportunities.”
“It’s definitely frustrating and disappointing, and it kind of holds me back in other places in my life, like my marriage to Jess,” she noted. “There’s a part of me that’s definitely afraid of losing him because I feel like our marriage is so good outside of the sexually intimate part of it, which is ironic because that’s his first need and that’s my first wound.”
“The Hurt” Michaela referred to her past sexual abuse, which became a central storyline in the show.
“I feel like I’m working on so many different things outside of just sex, and I know that obviously he can’t say, ‘Okay, okay, we can do without that.'” “We get to a point where we feel really helpless about it,” Michaela explained to her co-star. Macy Neely In a separate scene.
The saddest scene for fans to see was when Michaela packed up her belongings from her and Jess’ shared home. At one point, he told her: “At home, you feel like you can’t focus on your skin and your health because I’m here too.”
“I think it’s hard anytime to bring up these things about sex and intimacy,” Michaela admitted to Jess. “I feel like it’s hard for me because again, my nervous system is already in fight or flight mode, and I’m already maxed out. And the bucket is full.”
However, Michaela noted: “I don’t think it’s like we intend to break up forever. I think we’re obviously still going to see each other every day. I’m not trying to stay even one day away from the kids anyway.”
