The director, who helmed the last installment in the Paramount franchise, gave an update on the potential future of the horror franchise.

Screaming Franchise creator Kevin Williamson has no plans to attempt to helm the series’ next film.
During an interview with Hello SydneyThe director said he does not expect to write or direct Screaming 8the potential follow-up to the Paramount Pictures horror property. Williamson, who wrote the original screenplay for director Wes Craven Screaming which debuted in 1996, returned to the franchise to co-write and direct Screaming 7Which arrived in theaters last month.
“no Screaming“No,” Williamson said with a laugh when asked if his work was continuing Screaming 7 It made him want to do more directing. “I want to direct another film that I’ve written and I’m waiting for me to find the right time to direct it. At the moment, I’m working on two TV shows that I’m very excited about. So maybe I’ll direct one of those – who knows? Next time ScreamingMaybe I’ll step back and be part of the family again.
the Dawson Creek The creator offered more thoughts on the topic when asked about potential topics for the future Screaming films. He said: “I don’t know.” “Whoever does this should let us know. I have some ideas about where it could go, but I’m curious to see what another narrator can do with it. I hope we get the chance to do that. It’s good to be a part of Screaming family. This doesn’t mean I always have to be front and center. It is not always necessary to write or direct. Other people can take over. I’m excited to see what other storytellers come up with.

According to Williamson, viii Screaming The film has not yet received the green light from the studio: “I hope there will be 8. No one’s really talking about it yet. We’re just assuming that with the box office, hopefully there will be one. But no one is talking.”
Screaming 7 Stars Neve Campbell, Isabel May and Anna Camp and grossed more than $150 million at the global box office. Featuring a script Williamson co-wrote with Guy Busiek from a story credited to Busiek and James Vanderbilt. Screaming 7 The film focuses on Sydney (Campbell)’s fear for her daughter’s (May) safety when a new murderous ghost appears.
In his review of Screaming 7 to Hollywood ReporterCritic Frank Scheck wrote that the film proves that the franchise is “dead creatively, if not certainly commercially.”
