Rick and Morty It’s back with a new batch of episodes that rank Adult Swim pledges among its best yet.

The hit comedy series returns for season nine on Sunday, May 24.

“I know it’s my job to say this show continues to outdo itself, but it also has the advantage of being real,” said Michael Ouellen, president of Adult Swim. “It’s kind of scary what this show unit does season after season — they pump a ridiculous amount of talent and intelligence into these episodes. From the first frame, you’re going to see great, high-concept insanity with some of the best character writing ever. Again, it’s my job to say that, but it’s also true.”

Official description of the season:Rick and Morty He’s back, my dear! Season 9 is all certified bangers. No AI regression! Just top notch organic slope, made by real humans with real human features like back hair and cysts. Please watch, otherwise we will be neglecting our families for nothing.

The idea that Season 9 will be a return to form follows some fan criticism that Season 8 was a bit lackluster by the series’ high standards. Previously, showrunner and executive producer Scott Marder said in a Reddit AMA, “I would say Season 9 is going to convince everyone that we have a full tank of gas left in us. The episode ideas are still really flowing, and Rick still has a lot of ways to go.”

Rick and Morty It ranked as the top comedy on basic cable over several seasons and won two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Animated Program.
