In a bold move, Sylvester Stallone returns to the driver’s seat as executive producer of the long-awaited John Rambo prequel. This new chapter will delve into the legendary hero’s backstory before “First Blood,” with Noah Centineo playing a younger Rambo. Stallone couldn’t be more thrilled to explore the character’s origins from a new angle.

Sylvester Stallone has officially joined the upcoming “Rambo” movie, but not as its star. Instead, the actor who first played John Rambo in 1982’s First Blood will serve as executive producer of John Rambo, the upcoming prequel that tells the character’s origin story.

The film represents a major shift for the franchise. After leading the series on screen for decades, Stallone is now supporting the story behind the scenes as the series transitions to a younger version of Rambo, played by Noah Centineo.

The new development was confirmed by Stallone’s Instagram announcement. “Rambo has been a part of my life for a very long time. A character built on resilience, survival, and the scars of war,” Stallone wrote in his post.

According to Screen Rant, this is the first time Stallone has received an executive producer credit in the “Rambo” franchise, although he co-wrote the scripts for the previous films and directed 2008’s “Rambo.”

Adam Fogelson, president of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, explained how important it was for Stallone to return to the prequel. “Sylvester Stallone knows John Rambo better than anyone, and Lionsgate has had the good fortune to partner with Sly for more than 20 years on this legendary IP,” he said.

His participation is the definitive final piece to John Rambo, and we are thrilled to have him.Directed by Jalmari Helander and written by Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani, “John Rambo” will follow John J. Rambo during the Vietnam War before the events of “First Blood.” The cast includes Centeno, Yao, Jason Tobin, Quincy Isaiah, Jefferson White and Time Thapthithong. Production began in Bangkok in January, but the film has yet to have a release date.
