Mammootty went on to win the Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in the film. ‘Bramayugam’ recently achieved a global milestone by becoming the first Indian film to ever be screened at the Academy of Motion Picture Museum in Los Angeles. The screening came on the last day of the series of films titled “Where the Forest Meets the Sea.”

Of all his films, Rahul Sadasivan’s most famous horror film is definitely ‘Bhoothakaalam’. In an earlier exclusive conversation with ETimes, the director told us: “I wanted my film to have some realistic quality, even though it is a fictional story. The journey of these characters and their self-discovery itself is the crux of the film. To tell an impactful story, you need to breathe life into compelling characters, for which you need strong performances.”

This all depends entirely on the performance and setup we have created. “Our treatment of the narrative was outstanding.”
