The wife of Kerala Transport Minister and Kerala Congress (B) leader KP Ganesh Kumar has come out with explosive allegations of infidelity against him, claiming that she has photographic evidence to prove it.

Kumar’s wife, Bindu Menon, said on Monday that she caught him in a “compromising position” with another woman at their home in Falakom in Kollam district.

“I caught him (with another woman) in a situation I never imagined. I have pictures of that on my phone. I’m saying all this while risking my life. I don’t know what will happen to me but I don’t care anymore,” Menon told a local TV channel.

The minister’s wife alleged that his employees, including his driver, physically assaulted her and tried to delete the photos from her phone. She added that she did not back down.

On the advice of her family member and current BJP councilor R Srelekha, Menon claimed that she called police helpline number 112 for help at that time. “A police team came to the spot, but they did not take any action or register an FIR on my complaint about being assaulted,” she said.

When the Minister of Transport was asked about this matter, he did not categorically deny the allegations. He added: “I have 5,000 cases, and this is a personal matter and no one has the right to interfere in it.”

The minister defended himself, saying that these allegations were part of a political campaign against him in light of the upcoming House of Representatives elections. “But you will see that I will win by a larger margin (than in 2021). Voters here know me and know the work I have done for them as a public representative,” he said.

Leader of the Opposition V D Sathisan demanded Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to explain why the police did not take adequate action on the complaint of the minister’s wife.

“I have no interest in intervening in a domestic dispute. But the fact that a minister’s wife called the police for help and they did nothing shows that there is no security for women in this state. The chief minister must answer,” he said.

Ganesh Kumar, who is also a film actor, is a five-time MLA from Pathanapuram Assembly constituency and is the son of late Kerala Congress leader K Balakrishna Pillai. He was sworn in as minister in 2023, succeeding Anthony Raju. He was also a minister in the past between 2001-2003 and 2011-2013.
