“The primary objective of the said operation is to identify and confiscate shipments coming from

Pakistan and shipping through third countries to India,” Union Finance Minister Pankaj Chaudhary said in a written reply to a question asked about the status of the operation by Kaziranga MP Kamakhya Prasad Tassa.

Chaudhry added that Operation Deep Statement is ongoing and focuses on preventing the import of goods originating or exported from Pakistan into India. He noted that as of January this year, 12 cases of goods of Pakistani origin were imported from the UAE worth Rs. 1,784 lakh have been seized by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI).

In a separate question asked by Kargil MP Mohammad Hanifa, Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat gave a written response on relief measures for tourism stakeholders in Kargil and Leh in Ladakh after the attack.

The statistics in the response show that Cargill saw a 70.9% decline in the number of domestic tourists between 2024 and 2025, as the number fell from 3,20,432 to 93,389. It also saw a 27.12% decrease in the number of foreign tourists during the year. On the other hand, Leh saw a decline of 27.3% and 16.80% in the number of domestic and foreign tourists respectively between 2024 and 2025.

Shekhawat noted that Ladakh’s financial administration in September 2025 enabled banks in the region to avail benefits under Chapter VII of the Reserve Bank of India (relief measures taken by banks in areas affected by natural disasters).
