Tehran imposes sanctions and confiscates the assets of Iranians abroad who

The Iranian judiciary said on Monday that it would confiscate property and impose sanctions on members of the Iranian diaspora living abroad who “cooperate” with Israel and the United States.The judiciary’s Mizan Online website, citing the Public Prosecutor’s Office, said, “Iranians abroad who ally, accompany, and cooperate with the aggressor American-Zionist enemy will face confiscation of all their property and other legal penalties in accordance with the law.”

This announcement comes after some members of the Iranian diaspora who want political change in Tehran took to the streets of European and American cities to celebrate the killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in the American-Israeli war against Iran.

After his death, Mojtaba Khamenei was appointed the new Supreme Leader of Tehran.“A warning has been issued to Iranians living abroad who sympathize in various ways with, support or cooperate with the American-Zionist (Israeli) enemy,” state media quoted the Attorney General’s Office as saying.“They will face confiscation of all their property and other legal penalties in accordance with the law,” he added.

Newly created channels on the Telegram app shared details of prominent Iranians living abroad who posted comments criticizing Iran’s religious authorities and supporting the US-Israeli military campaign that began on February 28, according to Reuters. Up to 5 million Iranians live abroad, the majority in the United States and Western Europe, according to Iranian government data. Iranian media estimates the number at about 10 million.
