Panaji: Police have registered a case against a passenger for allegedly smoking beedi inside the toilet of a Delhi-Goa Acasa flight, officials said.

They said that the incident occurred on Saturday when the accused Ashish, a resident of Delhi, was traveling on flight QP1625 from the national capital to the coastal state.
According to the airline’s complaint, the passenger allegedly smoked bidis inside the plane’s toilet during the flight and was also found in possession of a lighter, which could pose a safety risk to the plane and passengers on board, a police official said on Sunday.
The police said that this act endangered the safety of passengers and crew members during the flight.
A case has been registered against the passenger at Goa’s Mopa Airport police station under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita Act and the Suppression of Unlawful Acts against Civil Aviation Safety Act, they said, adding that further investigations are underway.
Acasa Air confirmed the incident and said its crew followed the required protocol.
