Supriya Pathak supports 'Ram-Leela' co-star Deepika Padukone's request for 8 hours; Opens the door on pay disparity in Bollywood

Veteran actress Supriya Pathak has expressed support for her former co-star Deepika Padukone and called on her to make an eight-hour shift in the film industry. After Kareena Kapoor Khan and Ananya Panday, Spuria, in her latest chat, was asked to share her thoughts on the discussion. Supriya needs 8-hour shiftsSharing her perspective on the evolving demands of the acting profession, she instead chooses to focus on giving actors the proper time to prepare for their roles. “Acting is a craft. If I don’t work on developing myself, what story will I present to the audience?” she asked in an interview with Bollywood Bubble. “As an actor, I am the one who faces the audience. And when you face an audience, you have to be prepared.

If you don’t give me enough time to prepare myself, how will I face them? So I think it’s very important that actors, whether male or female, are given enough time to prepare.

Pathak also highlighted the multiple personal and professional responsibilities women often have in their careers. Participating in a study on how women’s brains differ from men’s brains, she said: “I feel like our brains think about twenty things at the same time, while a man’s brain mostly focuses on one thing.

“Their challenges are different, our challenges are different, and that’s why we need balance.”She concluded, “I believe women are empowered within themselves. Sometimes we don’t ignite that power. But if we get a little spark, we can become a very powerful firecracker.”Supriya talks about pay disparity in BollywoodDuring the conversation, Pathak also addressed the issue of pay disparity. While she noted that this topic extends beyond Bollywood and the Hindi film industry, she said: “I don’t know much about what other people pay.

But I think this is not just a problem in our industry. It’s a global issue. Even today, many women are fighting this.”“Pay disparity is part of a larger conversation about women’s empowerment. Across the world, in almost every profession, even if women are equally competent, or sometimes better, they still face unequal pay simply because they are women. This struggle continues, and true equality will take time to achieve.”Deepika exits films due to transformation controversyDeepika had the entire film industry divided over her call for an 8-hour shift, along with other demands, while working on her new films. The actress, who welcomed daughter Dua in 2024, shared that since becoming a mother, her priorities have changed. She created a stir when she quit two big films, including ‘Kalki 2898AD’ and ‘Spirit’. However, she will be seen in Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film ‘King’ and Atlee’s sci-fi film tentatively titled ‘AA22xA6’.
