Two suspects wanted in connection with the December 2025 killing of Bangladeshi youth leader Sharif Usman Hadi have been arrested from Bongaon in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district, the state police’s Special Task Force said on Sunday.

The suspects were identified as Faisal Karim Masood (37), also known as Rahul, a resident of Patuakali in Bangladesh, and Alamgir Hossain (34), a resident of Dhaka. The arrests took place on Saturday evening.
According to the STF, the two accused entered India through the Meghalaya border after Hadi’s killing and traveled to several parts of the country before reaching Bongaon. The STF said they were waiting for the opportunity to return to Bangladesh.
On Sunday, a local court detained Masoud and Hussein in police custody to enable special forces to conduct further investigations.
Hadi, 32, who was spokesman for Monchu’s coup movement, was shot in the head on December 12 in Dhaka. He was later transferred to Singapore for treatment but died on December 18.
His death sparked political unrest in Bangladesh and eventually led to general elections on February 12 this year.
The Bangladesh Nationalist Party, led by Tariq Rahman, swept the polls with its allies, winning 216 of the 297 seats and forming the government 20 years later.
