New metro corridors within the VA phase
Besides inaugurating the two corridors, Prime Minister Modi laid the foundation stone for three new tracks under the VA phase of Delhi Metro, covering a combined track length of about 16.10 km. Proposed corridors include:
- The Central Vista corridor connects RK Ashram Marg to Indraprastha
- Extension of the Gold Line from Aerocity to Terminal 1 of Indira Gandhi Airport
- Extension of the Golden Line from Tughlaqabad to Kalindi Kunj
Officials said that these new routes will improve connectivity to key locations across the capital and facilitate travel for passengers commuting between Noida, South Delhi and the airport.
Redevelopment of GPRA Projects
Before the programme, the Prime Minister visited the GPRA Type-5 headquarters at Sarojini Nagar and handed over the keys to the women allottees. He will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for projects worth Rs 15,200 crore under the Public Residential Accommodation Redevelopment Scheme (GPRA).
The projects are being implemented in Sarojini Nagar, Netaji Nagar, Kasturba Nagar and Srinaspuri as part of a broader effort to modernize government housing colonies and develop improved infrastructure for government employees and administrative offices. The redevelopment is being implemented through a self-sustaining financial model whereby a limited portion of the project area is developed and monetized for commercial and residential use to finance the overall redevelopment.Once completed, the plan will provide more than 9,350 modern apartments for government employees and provide about 48,000 square feet of office space, with the aim of enhancing administrative efficiency while also generating income generation potential.
