The email, which was sent at around 11:00pm last night, caused significant consternation among patients and staff.

In response, the Mumbai Police’s Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) conducted a comprehensive search of the hospital. Although the search did not turn up any suspicious items, police are currently working to track down the person behind the email.

More details await.

In a separate development, police said that the India Meteorological Department (IMD) office in Hyderabad earlier this week received a bomb threat via email, claiming that 14 RDX bombs had been planted in the building.

IMD staff immediately informed the police, who quickly took action. The employees were evacuated to safety, and the police, in cooperation with the bomb squad, conducted a comprehensive search of the building, checking every room.

“A bomb threat mail was received to the India Meteorological Department office in Begumpet and they reported the matter. The bomb team and dog team reached the IMD office and conducted a check and nothing was found. We have registered a case and are investigating the matter,” a Begumpet police official said.
