Ahmedabad traffic authorities have issued an advisory ahead of the 2026 India Men’s T20 World Cup final, which will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Due to the expected large attendance at the match, traffic will be restricted or diverted on several major roads near the stadium, according to Ahmedabad City Traffic Police.

Officials said vehicles plying the roads surrounding the stadium will face restrictions during the event, and passengers are advised to plan their travel accordingly and follow designated diversion routes.
Roads are closed to vehicular traffic
The road from Janpath T-junction to the main gate of Motera Stadium via Krupa Residency T-junction to Motera Gam T-junction will remain closed for vehicular movement in both directions during the match.
Authorities urged motorists to avoid this stretch and use alternative routes to prevent congestion near the stadium area.

Alternative and transformative methods
Vehicles traveling from Tapovan Circle towards ONGC Junction via Janpath T Junction shall use the internal roads before the ban point and proceed via alternative routes suggested by the traffic authorities.
Likewise, vehicles coming through the Krupa Residency T intersection must take the left connecting road and continue through the designated diversion lane.
Curfew and restrictions on public movement
The police also imposed curfew-like restrictions in certain areas under Section 33 of the Gujarat Police Act, 1951, under the jurisdiction of the Ahmedabad City Police Commissioner.

The restrictions will remain in effect from March 8 from 10:00 AM until midnight, and continue from 12:00 AM until 2:00 AM on March 9.
The authorities have warned that violations of these orders will result in legal action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act 2023 and Section 131 of the Gujarat Police Act. Police personnel were allowed to record violations and take action against violators.
