Noem was given the new role of “Special Envoy for Shield of the Americas” by Trump after he announced her removal from the Department of Homeland Security on March 5, 2026.
“I thank Christie for her service on Homeland,” the Republican president wrote on Truth Social, without specifying the reason for Noem’s dismissal.

I love Brion. I’m proud of the God-fearing family we’ve raised together. And now I’m getting back to work.”
Nearly five years later, Noem was asked about the rumors again by the House Judiciary Committee. Many politicians asked the then Minister of National Security to confirm or deny these reports.
