A popular Indian-origin influencer based in Canada has been identified as the victim of a fatal stabbing in LaSalle, Ontario. According to police, emergency services found Nancy Grewal with multiple stab wounds inside her home.
She was taken to hospital by Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services but later died from her injuries.
Who is Nancy Grewal?
Nancy Grewal, 45, was a singer and social media influencer known for her outspoken online presence, including sharp comments and controversial videos. She had 14.4k followers on Instagram, while local reports described her as a YouTuber of Punjabi origin.

According to previous public publications, she was born on January 19 and completed her schooling at a local school in Sirsa before joining Satluj Public School.
She later continued her university studies, which is referred to on her Facebook page as “National College.”Her Facebook profile also revealed that she is originally from Ludhiana and previously lived in Calgary, Alberta before moving to the Windsor/LaSalle area. There she lived with her pet dog, Pazvier.Grewal has gained widespread attention online for her commentary on diplomatic tensions between India and Canada and her criticism of Khalistani supporters, particularly through her statements against religious figures and individuals such as Gurpatwant Singh Pannun.
She also posted a commentary about former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Canada’s handling of issues related to separatists.In recent weeks, she has shared videos criticizing Radha Swami Satsang Bez chief Baba Gurinder Singh Dhillon after he called Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia in Nabha jail a few weeks ago.
Life in Canada
In Canada, Grewal worked as a caregiver, often taking two shifts a day at two companies, according to her mother, Shinderpal Kaur.She moved to Canada in 2018 after marrying a singer who was already living there. Grewal hoped to build a career in music but struggled to break into the industry, her mother said. She later started performing in theater shows.“Although it was the boy who asked for her hand in marriage, after they got there they had a falling out after some time and she had to fend for herself,” Kaur said.
Police investigations and family statements
The family reportedly learned of her death on March 4, after Grewal failed to answer several calls.
Concerned relatives then contacted the employer and local police. “When she got up, I checked her CCTV to see if she had returned. She did not answer my calls on March 3. Then we called the police there and found out what happened to her,” Kaur said. I was stabbed repeatedly and in a very bad way. On March 3, 2026, emergency services responded to the 2400 block of Todd Lane for a report of a stabbing. A 45-year-old woman was found with injuries. She was transported by Essex-Windsor Emergency Medical Services to hospital where she later died from her injuries. Her identity has been withheld pending notification of her next of kin.The LaSalle Police Service later confirmed Grewal’s identity and called the incident a homicide.
Investigators said they are treating the case as an isolated incident and have asked residents in the area to share any surveillance footage or information that could assist in the investigation.However, Grewal’s mother, who lives in Deol Nagar in Jalandhar, claimed that the influencer had been receiving threats for some time and had informed the police earlier.She alleged that three individuals could be involved in the murder and named them, and also claimed that Grewal’s house had been set on fire a few months ago.Kaur further alleged that the main conspirator was an elderly man associated with a local gurdwara in Windsor, Ontario. She also said that one of the suspects had previously visited Grewal’s house with his face covered while conducting reconnaissance.She added: “She had surveillance cameras inside and outside her house. As soon as Nancy spotted him, he felt very afraid. If there had been no surveillance cameras, she could have been killed that day as well.”
Kaur is expected to travel to Canada on March 6 to perform her daughter’s last rites.Following the news of her death, Alisha MS Grewal, Grewal’s sister, shared a heartfelt message on Instagram. “It is with a very heavy heart that I announce the passing of my beloved sister, Nancy Grewal, on March 3, 2026. My sister, my strength, and my friend are forever lost. Rest in peace, sister. You will always live in our hearts.”
