“We want to fix it, get this over with first — but it will only be a matter of time before you and a lot of great people return to Cuba,” he said.Addressing US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who was born in Miami to Cuban immigrants, Trump added, “You did a great job in a place called Cuba.”“What’s happening in Cuba is amazing, and we think we want to finish this first, but it will only be a matter of time before you and a lot of wonderful people return to Cuba,” he said.

“I hope I don’t stay.”

Washington imposed an energy blockade on the communist-ruled island, leading to a sharp decline in fuel supplies. The move followed the US arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, a major oil supplier to Cuba.According to Agence France-Presse, no oil has been imported to the island since January 9, forcing airlines to cut their flights and exacerbating the country’s long-standing economic crisis.Trump’s statements raised fears among many in Cuba that the island may be next on Washington’s list of foreign interventions, especially after the United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran that resulted in the killing of the country’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei. Both Trump and Rubio have previously expressed support for regime change in Havana.
