John Leguizamo has joined the cast of Mike Flanagan’s untitled film The exorcist Blumhouse-Atomic Monster and Morgan Creek Entertainment’s new take on the horror classic.

Flanagan wrote the script and is directing and producing the new film, promising a “new and bold” take on the story of demonic possession.

The film, which begins production next week, is easily the brightest Exorcist Project in years. Scarlett Johansson, Jacoby Jobe, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane are already loading up on holy water.

Flanagan wrote the script and is directing and producing the new film, which is neither a remake nor a sequel but is set in the Exorcist “world.”

While plot details are being kept under the wraps, Johansson is known to be playing the mother and Gopi her son. Maybe Leguizamo will play the antagonist.

Universal Pictures will release the new film in theaters and has set a release date of March 12, 2027.

It is produced by Blumhouse-Atomic Monster, Morgan Creek Entertainment and Flanagan, who operates via his Red Room Pictures banner. David Robinson produces for Morgan Creek Entertainment. Jason Blum and Ryan Turek serve as producer and executive producer, respectively, of Blumhouse-Atomic Monster. Alexandra Magistro will also executive produce Red Room.

Leguizamo, who won a Tony Award in 2022 for his one-man show latin history of morons, He can currently be heard as a voice in the song Billion Dollar Billionaire Zootopia 2. The series stars Dennis Lehane smoking on Apple TV+ and hosts a travel show Leguizamo does AmericaNow in its second season on MSNBC. He will next appear on the big screen in a role in Christopher Nolan’s all-star epic Odysseywhich opens worldwide on July 17.

Leguizamo is repped by UTA, Mosaic, Ingenuity Group and Jackoway Austen.
