Gayle King is staying at CBS.

Anchor has long been on CBS Morning She signed a new deal with the network to remain on the am show, while also expanding her work to include new projects with the network.

The host is one of the faces of CBS News, which is undergoing a restructuring under editor-in-chief Barry Weiss and President Tom Cebrowski.

“There is only one Gayle King. We are so proud that she will continue to call CBS,” Weiss said in a statement. “We are thrilled to have her with us in the morning – and we are equally excited to work with her on bold new projects that take her talents to new audiences.”

King’s previous contract was set to expire in May, leading to speculation about her future with the network under new leadership. In fact, King had to deny a report last year that she was leaving the show.

“The rumors about my death were inaccurate and greatly exaggerated,” King said in a statement. “CBS News has been my home for a long time, and I am committed to our mission. I’m excited to continue doing so.” CBS Morning. As always, I’m open to new adventures here and ready to go. It took a minute, but we got there. “And now that we’re here, I’m all in.”

However, changes are seen as inevitable on The Morning, which was founded by King, Nate Burleson and Tony Dokoupil. The latter, of course, has since moved on CBS Evening News.

“Gayle and Nate Burleson are great partners on the show, and morning TV is more vibrant than ever,” Cebrowski said. “We’re excited to continue growing CBS Mornings and can’t wait for what’s to come.”

But King’s survival gives the show a level of stability amid whatever overhaul Weiss seeks to implement. She told CBS News staff at a town hall earlier this year that she was “here to make CBS News fit for purpose in the 21st century.”

“Our strategy so far has been to cling to the audience that stays on broadcast television,” she added. “If we stick to this strategy, we are happy with that.”

King defended Weiss at City Hall, rallying troops behind the new leadership. However, network insiders expect not only big changes CBS Morningbut for 60 minutesand the network’s live streaming service and other programming.

Weiss is also expected to roll out new digital initiatives, seeking to attract audiences that either turned away from broadcast television years ago, or never tuned in in the first place. King will likely be a part of that.
