Khair described the film as a project “made on faith.” He said faith is about courage, kindness and the idea that being unique does not mean being less. With the film moving to OTT, he said it now “belongs to the audience” after traveling through film festivals and cinemas.

‘Tanvi The Great’ tells the story of Tanvi Raina, played by debutant Shubhangi Dutt. Tanvi is autistic and dreams of becoming an officer in the Indian Army. She grew up in Lansdowne with her grandfather, Colonel Pratap Raina, played by Anupam Kher, and her mother, Vidya, played by Pallavi Joshi.The plot focuses on Tanvi’s determination to complete what her late father, Captain Samar Raina, started.
Samar, played by Karan Tacker, wanted to salute the national flag over the Siachen Glacier. He died serving the country. Tanvi decides to honor his legacy. She pushes through physical and mental challenges. She faces what the film calls “ability” standards and social expectations.

The cast mixes new and veteran talent. Jackie Shroff plays Brigadier General Joshi. Boman Irani appears as Raja Sahab, Tanvi’s music teacher.
Arvind Swamy portrays Major Srinivasan. Iain Glen plays Michael Simmons. Cinematographer Keiko Nakahara captures the landscapes of Ladakh and Uttarakhand. Academy Award winner MM Keeravani composed the score.The film debuted in theaters on July 18, 2025. It reportedly received a seven-minute standing ovation at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. By January 2026, its limited theatrical run had exceeded 100 days. It also appeared on the 2026 Academy Awards call-up list for Best Film Eligibility. While many critics praised Dutt’s performance and the film’s honest depiction of neurological experiences, some noted its 159-minute runtime.
