Clearly, Seth Rogen has been keeping an eye on Hollywood news ahead of the 2026 Actor Awards.
the studio The star delivered some barbs at the Writers Guild of America West during the 2026 SAG-AFTRA Awards, formerly known as the SAG Awards, when he took the stage to accept the award for Best Comedian.
After the Writers Guild’s West Coast division canceled the upcoming awards show, scheduled for Sunday, March 8, due to an ongoing strike from the employees’ union, Rogen joked that SAG-AFTRA “was able to pay its employees enough to prevent the awards show from being cancelled.”
“Take notes, WGA,” he added.
His comments, made in his first appearance on stage on Sunday to accept several awards, were part of his acceptance speech for Best Actor in a Comedy Series for… studio. He later accepted the award for Best Ensemble in a Comedy for the cast and for the late star Catherine O’Hara, who won for Best Actress in a Comedy Series.
In his speech, Rogen admitted, “Honestly I’ve always considered myself a writer who is able to write roles for myself and then force people to let me perform in them, but this, actually, makes me feel like an actor on this evening, so I really appreciate that.”
Earlier Sunday, WGA West announced it would cancel next week’s ceremonies in a letter sent to presenters and event participants.
“Currently, non-supervisory employees at WGAW, represented by the Pacific Northwest Employees Union (PNWSU), are on strike,” Mulroney, president of WGA West, wrote in the letter. “While I respect employees’ right to strike, I also believe you deserve an uncomplicated celebration of your accomplishments. We will not ask you, your guests, talent, and crew to cross a picket line to attend.”
The Writers Guild Employees Union (WGSU), which picketed in front of the union’s headquarters in Los Angeles, alleged that management committed unfair labor practices amid its first contract negotiations, and said earlier this week that management had threatened to rescind the awards, which the WGSU framed as an attempt to “drive a wedge between union employees and the WGA membership.”
The Los Angeles ceremony was scheduled to take place at the JW Marriott LA LIVE and hosted by Atsuko Okatsuka. The ceremony was also scheduled to be broadcast live on the Writers Guild Awards West YouTube channel.
Although the Los Angeles gala has been cancelled, the Writers Guild of America East gala, scheduled to be held in New York on Sunday, March 8, will go ahead, as the unions remain separate, and the WGA East staff union is not on strike.
Roy Wood Jr. will host the Writers Guild Awards of New York.
