'Fate was on your side': Sutapa Sikdar recalls Irrfan Khan's desire to marry her for the second time in heartfelt anniversary note

Sutapa Sikdar remembered the late Irrfan Khan on their wedding anniversary via an Instagram video, explaining that they chose her birthday (23rd) so that he would remember her. She wrote, “Happy late anniversary, Irfan. You wanted to get married again after 25 years,” referring to Ramadan fasting. Irfan died in 2020 at the age of 53 due to cancer.

Late actor Irrfan Khan’s wife, Sutapa Sikdar, remembered him on their wedding anniversary with a heartfelt note. Sharing a video, she recalled why they chose their wedding date and spoke about their incomplete plans to marry again after completing 25 years together.

Heartfelt tributes to Sutapa Sikdar

She posted a clip on her Instagram account, and wrote: “Our wedding anniversary was on the 23rd, and the reason for choosing the date was to keep the same date as my birthday so that Irfan could remember.”

. He just didn’t remember the dates. Happy belated wedding anniversary Irfan. You wanted to get married again after we finished 25 years of marriage. You wanted to do everything we didn’t do in our simplest marriage possible. But even fate sided with you and we couldn’t get married again with all the rituals etc.

“In my part of the world, we fast during Ramadan.”

She also added, “And my mother should tell you there Rose Rekha Kar Irfan. To make you understand it better I called you there on Ramadan. Shaadi aur Ramadan Mubarak!!

! You took a trip to your hometown and celebrated D Day! I can hear your laugh at the word Dday!!”

Irrfan Khan’s legacy and death

Irrfan Khan, who was celebrated for his outstanding performances in films like ‘Slumdog Millionaire’, ‘Life of Pi’, ‘Piku’, ‘Hindi Medium’, ‘The Lunchbox’ and ‘Life in a Metro’, lost his battle with neuroendocrine cancer on April 29, 2020. He was diagnosed with the condition in 2018 and died at the age of 53 in a Mumbai hospital due to complications from a colon infection. He leaves behind his wife Sutapa Sikdar and sons Babil Khan, a budding actor, and Ayaan, the elder.
