Indian wicket-keeper-batsman Sanju Samson spoke about the special reception he witnessed at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, which is now his Indian Premier League home following his move to Chennai Super Kings. The 29-year-old recently took the field during India’s men’s T20 World Cup match against Zimbabwe and spoke about the strong emotional connection he felt with the Chennai fans and the responsibility that comes with supporting them.Samson revealed that the affection was evident from the moment he arrived in the city, noting the cultural affinity between Chennai and his home state of Kerala.
“After the trade, this is the first time I am coming to Chennai. Right from the airport, I can feel the special love. Usually, we come to Kerala and Chennai are very close, and we often come here, and I feel this energy here. I am fortunate to be part of such great and passionate fans here in Chennai,” Sanju said in a video shared by bcci.tv on Saturday.

The right-hander, known for his elegant movements, admitted that performing in front of such an enthusiastic fanbase brings not only happiness but also a deeper sense of duty.“Really happy to go out there and entertain them like that. I’m happy. More than just happiness, there’s also a little bit of extra responsibility. When everyone comes to cheer for you, I think there’s a little bit of extra responsibility to actually entertain them.”
