The Delhi High Court on Friday gave its nod to continue disciplinary proceedings against IPS officer Sameer Wankhede in connection with the 2021 Cordelia Navy drug case.

A bench of Justices Anil Kshetarpal and Amit Mahajan allowed the Centre’s appeal against the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) order quashing disciplinary proceedings against Wankhede in the matter.
“This petition is allowed,” the bench said while pronouncing the ruling.
A detailed copy of the ruling is awaited.
The central government has challenged the January 19 CAT order, quashing the “duty memorandum” issued to Wankhede on August 18, 2025, by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs.
Wankhede, a 2008 batch Indian Revenue Service (IRS) officer, made headlines for his alleged claim $25 crore from Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan’s family by threatening to implicate his son Aryan Khan in the Cordelia drug bust case during his stint at the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in Mumbai in 2021.
Before the CAT, Wankhede filed an original application challenging the disciplinary investigation against him by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs for allegedly seeking confidential information related to the investigation from the NCB Legal Department after being relieved from the agency.
He was also alleged to have sought “confirmation” from the NCB’s legal officer to “direct the investigation” in the investigation.
On January 12, the Supreme Court refused to interfere with the Committee against Torture’s order to stay disciplinary proceedings against Wankhede.
But it asked the Committee against Torture to make “sincere efforts” to decide the main matter on January 14 or within the next 10 days.
