Murugananth Govinthan, a 42-year-old Indian-origin expat, won the gold medal in his first attempt at the UAE lottery after purchasing his first ticket, which he shared with a close friend.
He won 5 million dirhams, which will be divided between the two. Jovinathan shared that he plans to fulfill his biggest dream of owning a house and moving his family out of their rented accommodation. He added in a statement that he moved to the UAE because of the responsibilities of marriage and educating children and he could not stop thinking about the same when he won. “I couldn’t stop thinking about everything I’ve been through over the past three years, my marriage, my children’s education, and all the responsibilities I have.
That’s why I came to the UAE. I didn’t expect this to happen so soon. “I feel very happy,” he said.He added that buying a house has always been a dream for him and his children, and now he feels that he is on the way to “resolving these conflicts.” He added: “I consider this a great blessing from God.”The grand prize is Dh30 million, which has not been claimed since the new lottery format was introduced. The second prize, 5 million dirhams, was recently increased from 1 million dirhams, a move organizers said has sparked renewed enthusiasm among players across the UAE.
