The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has revealed the nominees for the Class of 2026, with Mariah Carey, Lauryn Hill, Oasis, Pink, Phil Collins and Shakira all vying for a nomination.
Also nominated this year are The Black Crowes, Jeff Buckley, Melissa Etheridge, Billy Idol, INXS, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order, New Edition, Sade, Luther Vandross and Wu-Tang Clan. Official nominees will be announced in April, along with the Music Influence and Music Excellence Awards as well as the Ahmet Ertegun Award reserved for a prolific music industry veteran.
“This diverse list of talented nominees recognizes the ever-evolving faces and voices of rock and roll and its continuing impact on youth culture,” John Sykes, president of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Foundation, said in a statement. “Induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is music’s highest honor, and we look forward to celebrating the Class of 2026 this fall.”
Artists reach Rock Hall eligibility when their first recording is 25 years old, so this year’s class recordings had to be released in 2001 or earlier. Collins already became a Rock Hall inductee after Genesis was inducted in 2010, though this year marks the first time he’s been nominated as a solo performer. The rest of this year’s first-time nominees are Buckley, Etheridge, Hill, INXS, New Edition, Pink, Shakira, Vandross and Wu-Tang Clan.
Carey is hoping to secure her third nomination after being rejected the past two years, and Iron Maiden received their third nomination as well, having previously received nominations in 2021 and 2023. Joy Division/New Order and Oasis also received their third nominations. Black Crowes, Idol and Sade all received their second nominations.
Last year’s class included Cyndi Lauper, Bad Company, The White Stripes and Soundgarden.
