NEW DELHI: The Union Cabinet led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, in its first meeting at the newly inaugurated Prime Minister’s Office complex, ‘Seva Tirth’, passed a resolution reiterating that every decision taken there will be guided by the spirit of service to 1.4 billion citizens and aligned with the broader goal of nation building.

“Seva Tirth is the answer to the need for a governance infrastructure that promotes dynamism rather than stagnation, dedication rather than apathy, and solutions rather than skepticism,” the resolution said.
The meeting noted that the new complex was not just a workplace, but a “pilgrimage of service”, combining duty, dedication and public well-being.
“This meeting and this building are a direct expression of the reconstruction of a new India. With this auspicious beginning, we welcome that future whose foundations have been laid by centuries of effort,” the resolution said.
The new building was inaugurated by the Prime Minister on February 13.
To emphasize the need for a new building, the resolution noted that traditionally, governments worked from the Prime Minister’s Office in the South Building, to preserve the legacy and envision the future, but the current government envisioned an India whose thinking is original, whose form is modern, and whose capabilities are limitless.
“Today, Siva Tirth is the embodied manifestation of that same vision, which will enhance India’s pride as the mother of democracy. On this occasion, we also remember the history of this place. Siva Tirth has been built on the site of temporary barracks from the British era. The establishment of a vibrant institution of national governance at that site is also a symbol of the transformation of the new India,” the resolution said.
The Council of Ministers also affirmed that constitutional values for the government are an expression of the moral commitment that links governance with dignity, equality, and justice for every citizen. “The business culture of Seva Tirth will be guided by this same spirit, where every policy will be in keeping with the basic spirit of the Constitution and every decision will be accountable to the aspirations of the people…
The Union Cabinet reiterated its resolve that every decision taken in this building should be inspired by the sentiments of “Nagrek Devo Bhava” (Citizen is God).
She added that the new building will not be a center for showcasing power, but for empowering every Indian. “All governance efforts undertaken from Seva Tirth will remain linked to the spirit of simplifying the lives of the last person in the country. We reiterate that, in line with our vision, we will continue to promote a governance model that is transparent, aware and sensitive to the sentiments of citizens,” the resolution said.
