Ahmedabad: Seven people were killed after a Maruti Eco van collided with a truck on a hilly stretch in Kumbhat area of ​​Gujarat’s Valsad district on Friday. The collision occurred on Friday afternoon on the Kaprada-Nanabunda Ghat road when the truck collided with the truck near a sharp bend, police said.

Five passengers in the truck died instantly. Two others were taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition and later died from their wounds, bringing the death toll to seven, according to a senior police official.

The official said that the victims were residents of Amba Jungle village in Kabrada taluka.

The collision left the truck severely mangled. The official added that the truck driver and its cleaner were injured and are undergoing treatment at a local hospital. Rescue teams arrived at the site shortly after the accident and began investigating the cause of the collision. The bodies were sent for autopsy, and legal procedures began.
