Dane’s family confirmed Eric’s death in a statement they obtained the people.
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Eric Dane on Thursday afternoon after a courageous battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis,” the statement read. “He spent his last days surrounded by his dear friends, his devoted wife, and his two beautiful daughters, Billy and Georgiawho were the center of his world. Throughout his journey with ALS, Eric has become a passionate advocate for awareness and research, determined to make a difference for others facing the same battle. He will be greatly missed and always lovingly remembered. Eric loved his fans and is forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support he has received. The family has asked for privacy as they navigate this impossible time.

As previously reported, Eric passed away after battling amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative disease. The disease is also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis is a disease of the nervous system that affects cells in the brain and spinal cord, causing loss of muscle control over time, according to the Mayo Clinic. The disease usually begins with muscle tremors and/or weakness, difficulty swallowing, or slurred speech. It is considered a fatal disease.
Eric remained committed to raising awareness about his disease during his final year. He revealed his diagnosis in April 2025 in a statement to the people.
“I have been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis,” the actor said at the time. “I am grateful to have my loving family by my side as we move into this next chapter. I feel fortunate to be able to continue working and look forward to returning to the group trance next week. I ask that you please grant me and my family privacy during this time.
