Washington – The US Treasury Department announced Thursday that the United States will host the G20 summit in Florida next December.
The ministry announced a schedule for the G20 “financial track” meetings, saying that the American year of hosting the G20 will culminate with President Donald Trump hosting the leaders’ meeting on December 14 and 15 at Trump National Doral in Miami, Sunshine State.
In September, Trump said the United States would host the summit at the resort in December this year for the first time in nearly 20 years. Since South Korea is part of the G20, it is possible that President Lee Jae-myung will also attend the summit.
Before the summit, a meeting of G20 finance ministers and central bank governors will be held in Washington on April 16, followed by a meeting of finance and central bank deputies in Asheville, North Carolina, on August 29-30, according to the ministry.
Another meeting of finance ministers and central bank governors is scheduled to be held in Asheville from August 31-September. 1, followed by a meeting of ministers and central bank governors in Bangkok on October 15.
In a press release, Treasurer Scott Bessent outlined a series of G20 themes, including modernizing financial regulation, enhancing understanding of global imbalances, enhancing debt transparency and facilitating debt restructurings, and supporting the vital digital asset ecosystem.
