Pakistan reprimands Taliban regime for using Afghan territory for terror attacks

Pakistan has issued a demarche to Afghanistan’s Taliban regime over allegations that it used Afghan soil for a recent terror attack that claimed the lives of 11 soldiers, the Foreign Office said on Thursday (Feb 19, 2026).

On Monday (February 16), 11 soldiers and a civilian were killed when militants rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into a security check post in Bajaur area of ​​Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to a Foreign Office press release, the demarche was issued on Wednesday afternoon (February 18) when the Afghan Deputy Head of Mission was summoned to the Foreign Ministry.

“Pakistan condemns in the strongest possible terms the vehicle-borne suicide terrorist attack by Fitna Al Khawariz (or) TTP after firing on Pakistani military and law enforcement posts in Bajaur,” it said.

The term Fitna Al Khawarij is used for terrorists belonging to the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

The Foreign Office expressed concern that the group, whose entire leadership is based in Afghanistan, was “operating with impunity from Afghan soil”.

It reiterated that Pakistan had received repeated assurances from the Afghan Taliban regime, “but, regrettably, no concrete or concrete steps”.

“The Afghan Taliban regime is told to take immediate, concrete and verifiable action against all terrorist groups operating from its territory, including their leadership,” it said.

The ministry also informed the Afghan Taliban that Pakistan “reserves the right to respond and eliminate any Khawarij belonging to the group and their affiliates”, wherever they may be, to “confirm”. [the] Security of its soldiers, civilians and territorial borders.

Pakistan often blames the Afghan government for failing to stop terrorists from crossing the border into Pakistan from using its soil for attacks.

However, the Kabul administration denied such allegations and instead insisted that Pakistan should control its security affairs.
