Ingredients you need for basic macadamia nut cheese [Vegan]

  • 1 cup macadamia nuts
  • 1/2 teaspoon probiotic powder
  • Filtered water
  • Small nut milk bag
  • refinery
  • Large bowl (fits strainer)
  • Small plate
  • Heavy box
  • Kitchen towel
  • Parchment paper

How to Make Basic Macadamia Nut Cheese [Vegan]

  1. Soak the macadamia nuts overnight.
  2. Drain the nuts and add them to the blender. Add probiotic powder and a small amount of filtered water. You may need to add more water, depending on the machine you are using. It doesn’t matter, because the cheese will be filtered and pressed afterward.
  3. Add probiotics and mix. Stop mixing every now and then to scrape down the sides. Blend until the consistency is as smooth as possible.
  4. Place the strainer in the large bowl.
  5. Place the mixture in a nut milk bag. Pull the drawstring and wrap the bag. Tap on the water. Place it on the strainer, then place a small plate over the bag. Place the heavy can on top and then cover the whole thing with a kitchen towel. Leave it on the counter for about 12 hours to set!
  6. Turn the cheese over onto a piece of parchment paper and form a log with your hands. Pull one side of the parchment to the other and twist it as if you were playing with play dough. Once you put the log together, you have your cheese! From here, you can roll in fresh herbs or nuts. I like it plain. You can also take a step back and mix herbs or even nutritional yeast or onion powder into the cheese before rolling.
  7. Serve it in a plate with biscuits, with a delicious arugula salad, along with roasted beets or any way you want. Enjoy!
