Traffic was temporarily stopped Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey was disrupted on Wednesday after a Florida-bound JetBlue flight suffered engine failure on takeoff and returned to the airport, officials said.

The crew on Flight 543 reported smoke in the cockpit, and after the emergency landing, passengers and crew exited the Airbus A320 through slides on the taxiway, the Federal Aviation Administration said. There were no injuries.

The cause of the incident was not immediately known. The FAA said that they will investigate this.

The FAA has temporarily suspended traffic to the airport. The Port Authority said operations resumed after 7.00pm ET.

According to CBS and ABC, flights in and out of the airport were paused when the JetBlue plane was pushed off the runway.

The flight took off for West Palm Beach, Florida.
