“Not a comment on who Maduro was as a leader”The AOC made the comments while participating in a panel at the Technical University of Berlin for the Munich Security Conference on Sunday.
He argued that even though Venezuela is located north of the equator, the administration is not allowed to conduct an alleged “act of war” because it is south of the equator.
“We see what happened in Venezuela for example, Maduro was not commented on who was a leader. He canceled the elections, he was an anti-democratic leader, that doesn’t mean we can kidnap a head of state,” he said.
He added, “We cannot go to war because the nation is below the equator.”
Ocasio-Cortez also made it a point to poke fun at Secretary of State Marco Rubio during the event, quite realistically, saying that current cowboy culture in the Americas was influenced by Spanish settlers.
In a special operations effort known as Operation Absolute Resolve, the United States arrested Maduro on January 3 and charged him in Manhattan with conspiracy to import cocaine and narco-terrorism, firearms violations and corruption.

Conservatives criticize the AOCAccording to The Huddle’s Dan Turrentine, he reportedly canceled the rest of the planned media engagement after receiving harsh criticism from conservatives online. He added that he was not ready to go on the world stage after none of his political supporters stood up for him.
X, a Marvel user wrote, “The AOC’s statement that Venezuela is “below the equator” is as unqualified as a serious presidential candidate as Dan Coyle is unable to spell an “e” or Rick Perry unable to name three cabinet departments.”
Another user, Brady Sneath, praised Rubio’s “gravitas” and wrote, “Someone with Rubio’s gravitas compared to AOC or Newsome is quite the opposite.
Sneath also wrote, “For some reason, the Democratic elites have failed to produce serious, legitimate candidates. They can still win the popularity contests of elections, but if they do, it’s a pity for the nation.”
Another user on X, NYC_Cowsheep, commented on AOC’s “unpreparedness” and wrote, “AOC shows up for his “foreign policy exam” and either didn’t study or forgot. Not necessarily a career ender, but it shows how unprepared he is for prime time on the world stage – right now.”
