Bangalore: A three-year-old boy fell into a pool of water and drowned as his pregnant mother posed for her second maternity photoshoot on the outskirts of Bengaluru on Sunday, police said.

He was rushed to hospital but was declared brought dead by doctors, police said (Representational Photo).The child was accompanying her mother Swati to Giddenhalli village near Nelamangala, where she had gone for a photo shoot before the birth of her second child.

“The incident took place on Sunday when the mother was attending a maternity photoshoot. The child was playing near the location and accidentally fell into a small pool of water,” Madanayakanahalli police inspector MK Muralidhar said.

The family lives in JP Nagar, Bangalore.

Family members and others present started looking for her when they realized she was missing and finally found her in the pond.

He was taken to hospital but doctors declared him brought dead, police said. The body was later sent to Nelamangala Government Hospital for post-mortem.

Police said the child’s father, Charan Raj, was abroad for work and returned after receiving news of the accident. “The child’s father, who was abroad for work, came back on Sunday after getting the news. The postmortem was conducted at Nelamangala Government Hospital, and the body was handed over to the family members. We have registered a case of unusual death and started investigation,” the officer said.
