(HT_PRINT)Bouverot, in an interview with Hindustan Times, said that while ‘dire predictions’ were made two years ago about AI taking away jobs, it has yet to happen. “There were a lot of dire predictions that half the jobs would disappear within two years. We’re over two years later and that hasn’t happened. However, there is potential for big disruptions to jobs being automated and especially to doing things differently,” he said.

Bouverot said AI’s impact on the job market is also being seen in policymaking. “There’s a lot of attention on this on the policy front and and and workers everywhere are wondering what this will mean for them. I think it will mostly mean new jobs and and and job changes but we have to be very careful,” he said.

India is all set to host the AI ​​Impact Summit 2026 from February 16 to February 20 in New Delhi. Reflecting a broad international commitment to shaping the future of AI, the summit is expected to attract global leaders, top policymakers, industry executives and innovators from around the world.

Among the high-profile dignitaries confirmed for the summit are Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and French President Emmanuel Macron. Both the leaders are scheduled to visit India during the summit, emphasizing the diplomatic and strategic significance of the event in terms of global technology cooperation and bilateral relations.

The India AI Impact Summit, being held at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, is the first global AI summit to be held in the Global South.
