India’s West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee congratulated Tariq Rahman, who is set to become Prime Minister of Bangladesh, after his landslide victory in the elections on Friday.

(PTI file photo)Addressing Tariq Rahman as “bhai” or brother, he gave a message in Bengali as well as English, “My sincere congratulations, good luckto all my brothers and sisters, to all the people of Bangladesh. My advance Ramadan Mubarak to them all,” also sending greetings for the Muslim holy month that begins soon.

He further said, “Congratulations to my brother Tarek, his team and all parties for this great victory. May you all be well, be happy. May our relations with Bangladesh always be cordial.”
