Keir Starmer was on the brink of a leadership challenge this week, but he pulled it back. That doesn’t mean his rivals are far off, though, as one of the hottest leadership candidates is the health secretary, Wes Streeting.
Earlier this week, the Labor leader in Scotland, Anas serverheld a surprise press conference calling for Stormer to resign. Meanwhile, at Westminster, Streeting is preparing to publish all his messages with Peter Mandelson to avoid spreading rumors about his friendship with the disgraced former ambassador to the US. But this sparked speculation that Streeting had colluded with the server team to put pressure on Stormer. Although Streeting denied this, the whole affair put the health secretary back in the spotlight for his potential leadership plans.
