According to an official statement from the Centre, the new buildings “reflect the architecture of India’s administrative governance and the Prime Minister’s commitment to build a modern, efficient, accessible and citizen-centric governance ecosystem.”

According to the government, the new building will allow for increased efficiency by reducing the proximity between government buildings.

“For decades, several important government offices and ministries have operated from fragmented and aging infrastructure spread across multiple locations in the Central Vista area. This dispersion has led to operational inefficiencies, coordination challenges, increased maintenance costs, and sub-optimal work environments. The new building complexes address these issues, further integrating future facilities—more integrated modern facilities.
