According to the provisional results, the main candidates of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and Jamaat-e-Islami won significant victories in several seats in the Bangladesh parliamentary elections.

The main leaders of BNP who won the elections in BangladeshSeveral senior leaders of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party won strategically important seats:

The main leaders of Jamaat won the elections in BangladeshJamaat-e-Islami leaders also performed strongly, winning several seats:

The head of the Jamaat Shafiqur Rahman Dhaka-15 seat of the capital has been confirmed.Mujibur RahmanNaib-e-Ameer, the party’s central candidate, won from Rajshahi-1 seat in the northwestern part of Bangladesh.Mir Ahmad bin QasemSon of Jamaat leader Mir Kasem Ali was elected from Dhaka-14.Shahjahan Chowdhury He won in South East Chittagong-15 seats.Azharul Islam ATM Rangpur-2 in the northern region of Bangladesh won.Syed Zainul Abedin Won in Dhaka-4 seats.At the coalition level, the BNP-led bloc won 212 seats, crossing the halfway mark needed to form a government, while the Jamaat-e-Islami-led alliance won 70 seats, according to unofficial results cited by news agency ANI.

Independent candidates and small parties together won about six seats.

While these preliminary results point to a major political shift, vote counting is still underway and the Election Commission of Bangladesh is yet to announce official results.

After the death of his mother, former prime minister Khaleda Zia, Tariq Rahman asked party workers to postpone celebrations and instead offer prayers after Friday prayers.

The election marked a defining moment in Bangladeshi politics after Khaleda Zia’s death and the ban on Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League.
