Britain on Thursday (Feb 12, 2026) pledged hundreds of millions of dollars in air defenses to Ukraine to deter Russian attacks on the country’s energy and heating systems.
About $200 million will go to a NATO plan backed by US President Donald Trump to buy American weapons for Kyiv, the British Ministry of Defense said.
London will send 1,000 British-made light missiles to Ukraine worth more than $500 million to Kyiv.
British Defense Secretary John Healy said Ukraine’s allies were “more committed than ever to supporting Ukraine” as Russia’s war approaches the start of its fifth year.
The announcement came as NATO defense ministers met in Brussels to discuss increasing support for Ukraine.
Fierce Russian bombing of the war-torn country’s energy grid has seen heating and power cuts to parts of the country amid freezing winter conditions.
“This is terrorism against the citizens of Ukraine,” German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said.
“It is therefore necessary to increase support for Ukraine in terms of self-defense.”
