While authorities continue to search for Nancy Guthrie, unfounded speculation surrounds son-in-law Tommaso Cioni and former bandmate Dominic Evans.
Nancy Guthrie has yet to be found, her family said after she disappeared on February 1. Authorities believe the 84-year-old was abducted from her home near Tucson, Arizona, the night before. Although no suspect has been officially named, much speculation surrounds Tommaso Cioni, the son-in-law.
Dominic Evans and Tommaso Cioni were bandmates. (X/@JLRINVESTIGATES)Today show host Savannah Guthrie was reportedly the last person to see Sioni’s mother before she was taken. The Octobnarian had dinner with Sioni’s wife, Savannah’s sister, Annie, the night before her disappearance and was said to have been thrown out of the house by Sioni. With the growing interest in Sioni, his personal life came under the microscope. This brought attention to Sioni’s band Early Black and fellow band members Dominic Evans and Walter Goncalves.
Claims were made about Evans’ alleged criminal past, and speculation only grew after the FBI released video footage of a possible subject on Guthrie’s doorstep the night of her disappearance. Although both the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department have yet to name a suspect, agency director Kash Patel reports that there are now persons of interest in the case. Meanwhile, a demand to summon Dominic Evans for questioning has gone viral.

To be sure, this claim was shared on social media from unverified profiles. Here is the truth behind the claims.
Dominic Evans called in for questioning? The truth behind the claimFacebook pages widely claimed that Evans had been subpoenaed for questioning. “‘It’s him!’ Police have called in Tommaso Cioni’s bandmate Dominic Evans for questioning — and sources say he’s confessed…” reads one post.
Another post was shared with the same caption. They garnered mixed reactions, with some saying Evans looked like a masked subject, while others noted the facial features didn’t match.
Regardless of these claims and speculations, from what authorities have shared with the public, Evans has not been called in for questioning in the Guthrie case. A man was detained yesterday but then released, but it wasn’t Evans.
The sheriff’s department shared that they were talking to people who last saw Guthrie before she disappeared. The claim about Evans comes only from his link to Cione. An earlier report by former News Nation journalist Ashleigh Banfield claimed that Sioni was a suspect in the case, but authorities dismissed it. However, that hasn’t quelled social media speculation about Guthrie’s son-in-law or his former bandmates.
