A gunman who opened fire at a school in southern Thailand’s Hat Yai district on Wednesday (Feb. 11, 2026) has been arrested and all hostages have been released, a police official said. Reuters.

An 18-year-old man entered the Patongprathankiriwat school in Hat Yai, Songkhla province with a gun on Wednesday (February 11, 2026), the provincial administration said on social media.

“The culprit has been apprehended,” said Deputy Superintendent Vician Soboon Reuters.

A second police officer said at least three people were injured in the incident.

Gun violence and ownership are not uncommon in Thailand, where a former police officer killed 36 people, including 22 children, in a 2022 gun and knife attack at a nursery in the east of the country.
