Co-Founder and Chief Commercial Officer of Aksa Air Praveen Iyer has resigned from the airline, marking the second major leadership departure at the carrier in less than three years.

“Preveen is not only the commercial vision of Akasa but the airline itself…” Dubey said, thanking him for his leadership and long-term vision.

Who is Praveen Iyer?Praveen Iyer is a co-founder of Akasa Air and served as its Chief Commercial Officer. He was also a member of the executive committee of the airline.
Prior to joining Akasa, Iyer held senior roles at Jet Airways and Qatar Airways, where he gained extensive experience in network planning, revenue management and commercial strategy. At Akasa, he played a key role in building the airline’s commercial structure and market positioning.
Iyer completed his graduation from Mumbai University. He then completed his MBA and started his career with McDonald’s.
After his departure, another co-founder Anand Srinivasan took over as Chief Commercial Officer. Srinivasan, who previously served as Chief Information Officer, will now oversee commercial operations. The airline has begun a search for a new chief information officer, with the IT function temporarily reporting to chief financial officer Ankur Goyal.
Akasa Air, backed by the family of late investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, was founded by a group of aviation professionals including Vinay Dubey and former IndiGo president Aditya Ghosh. Currently, the airline has about 5 percent market share in India’s aviation sector.
