Some users claim that the position resembles what is commonly called a ‘Mexican carry’.

One person claimed, “The gun is being carried the same way as Mexican carry, only using a holster. Probably the cartel. Guessing on my part.”

Another added, “Gun position is very common in what’s called the Mexican carry position. Front and center. He’s right handed too.”

A third person commented, “I’ve seen it speculated that it carries a Mexican-style. Don’t know if that’s true, but might be somewhat marked.”

Others disagree with that characterization.

One person wrote, “The subject of interest in the Nancy Guthrie kidnapping is not carrying her gun in a Mexican carry. The Mexican carry is not a holster at all, just tucked into a belt or pocket, as someone could poke the gun if needed without a holster.”

Another added, “Mexican carry is just shoving a gun in your waistband. Nothing more. “Mexican carry” at its best is no holster.”
