The film industry and political figures came out in support of the actor-comedian Rajpal Yadav after he surrendered to the Tihar Jail authorities in connection with several check bounce cases related to the failure of his 2010 directorial debut Ata Pata Laapata.Rajpal was sent to Tihar Jail after the Delhi High Court rejected his plea for more time to clear arrears of nearly Rs 9 crore.

Gurmeet Choudhary, best known for his role as Ram on television, expressed his disappointment over Rajpal Yadav’s situation and offered help.Writing on X, he said, “It breaks my heart to see a senior and extremely talented artist like Rajpal Yadav going through such a painful phase.”He added: “He gave us countless smiles, laughs and unforgettable moments. He needs us today.

Rao Inderjit Singh Yadav extends support at Rs 1.11 crore
Music producer Rao Inderjit Singh Yadav, owner of GemTunes Music, provided financial assistance of Rs 1.11 crore to Rajpal Yadav.Speaking to IANS, he said, “Rajpal ji gave the audience immense joy and was an integral part of Indian cinema.
This support does not consist in money, but in standing next to a person in a time of need.”He added: “Our industry is a family, and families stick together when it matters most.”
KRK offers Rs 10 lakh, calls for collective help
Self-proclaimed film critic Kamaal R. Khan (KRK) also offered financial help and urged Bollywood to unite.Posting on X, KRK wrote, “I am ready to give ₹10 lakh for Rajpal Yadav. Let’s all the people of Bollywood come together to give him ₹5cr! If he returns only ₹5cr so he can get out of jail immediately! Let’s all help him.”
Tej Pratap Yadav announces a financial assistance of Rs 11 lakh
Bihar politician Tej Pratap Yadav, elder son of Lalu Prasad Yadav, has announced a financial assistance of Rs 11 lakh to Rajpal Yadav and his family.Sharing the post on X, Tej Pratap Yadav wrote, “I have just come to know about the pain of Hon’ble Rajpal Yadav ji’s family through a message from my elder brother Rao Inderjit Yadav ji. At this extremely difficult time, I and my entire JJD family are in full sympathy and solidarity with their bereaved family.”He added, “In the spirit of human compassion and support, on behalf of JJD’s family, I am extending a financial assistance of Rs 11,00,000 (Eleven Lakh Rupees) to their family.”

Legal basis of the case
Rajpal Yadav was sent to Tihar Jail after the Delhi High Court said he had to pay Rs 1.35 crore in each of the seven check bounce cases filed against him. The court decided to return the amount that had already been deposited to the chief registrar in favor of the plaintiff.In 2010, Rajpal borrowed Rs 5 million from M/s Murali Projects Pvt Ltd for Ata Pata Laapata. The film failed at the box office, which provoked a long legal dispute. Before surrendering, Rajpal told Bollywood Hungama that he did not have the funds to repay the amount and when asked if he had sought help from his colleagues, said, “It’s every man to himself” in the industry.
