A mass movement was reported in the Nancy Guthrie case as SWAT vehicles were seen leaving the Pima County Sheriff’s parking lot. The clip was shared by Fox News and quickly went viral, as the search for the 84-year-old continues.
A man walks a dog as members of the Pima County Sheriff’s Office stand outside Nancy Guthrie’s home. (AP)Guthrie was reported missing from her home near Tucson, Arizona on February 1, and authorities believe she was taken the night before. Today, the FBI released new footage and photos of a possible suspect at Guthrie’s door. The man was seen wearing a ski mask and gloves, making it difficult to identify the man.
There was also a claim online that one of Guthrie’s neighbors had a son with a criminal history. Shortly after the claim was made online, Fox News also reported that investigators were going door-to-door in Guthrie’s neighborhood. They reportedly went to a house a few doors down from Guthrie’s place.

Now, with all eyes on the Guthrie case, questions about the movement of SWAT vehicles have been raised. It was previously unclear if this was related to the Guthrie case, but now there has been an update on that.
Why is SWAT traffic?Fox News, citing sources, said SWAT vehicles were involved in Guthrie’s case. However, it is not clear where the vehicles have gone.
According to reports, the deputies were seen loading shields and other tactical gear before leaving. Bomb squad and command center vehicles were also seen moving, a Fox News reporter told X-A.
Although the exact reason for SWAT’s deployment is unknown, they are typically called upon to resolve high-risk and complex situations that may be beyond the expertise of ordinary law enforcement personnel. SWAT handles hostage situations in incidents.
TMZ reported earlier today that authorities believe the kidnapper is from the Tucson area. Sources involved in the investigation told the publication that the operating theory was that the ransom notes were written by the kidnapper and provided clues to law enforcement about where the person lived.
Notably, the FBI and Pima County Sheriff’s Department have not yet named suspects or persons of interest in the case.
Meanwhile, a person at X claims “the teams sent around Annie may be a distraction to keep the media away from wherever SWAT is going.” Others expressed hope that this might mean the case was closer to being solved and that Guthrie could be found.
Investigators stressed that time was of the essence in this case because Guthrie could not do well without his daily medication, which was left at home. Reports show Guthrie has high blood pressure, heart problems and uses a pacemaker.
